NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (Hixon, TN)
June 7 @ 8:00 am - 6:00 pm$85.00
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is intended for all individuals, regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This is the traditional, instructor-led course where students will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. Please note that this course will be held in Hixon, TN (just outside of Chattanooga).
Some of the topics in the course include:
- gun safety rules
- proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
- ammunition knowledge and selection
- selecting and storing a pistol
- fundamentals of shooting
- pistol inspection and maintenance
Small classes ensure low student-to-instructor ratios for lots of individualized attention. The course concludes with a written test and a shooting qualification drill. Our patient instructors will be there to assist students every step of the way in a comfortable, non-intimidating environment.
For this class, we are honored to be hosted by the Chattanooga chapter of A Girl and A Gun Shooting League. The chapter has graciously arranged for this class to be held at Shooter’s Supply Indoor Range in Hixon, TN. If you have questions about the course itself (registration, course content, prerequisites, etc.), please contact CSA directly. But if you have questions about the local facility, applicable range fees, or the Chattanooga AGAG Chapter, please contact Ms. Stephanie Winn:
We are very excited to bring this class to the Chattanooga area and team up with the local AGAG chapter. Please note that this is a co-ed, open-enrollment class (not limited to AGAG members). All are welcome, and we look forward to seeing you there.
For this class, each student will need the following:
- A reliable handgun*
- Approximately 100 rounds of ammunition* (might not need that much, but just to be safe)
- Eye and ear protection*
- Note-taking materials
- Snacks, drinks, meds, any other amenities you may need to stay comfortable throughout the day
- Sack lunch (or money to buy lunch)
- Range fees, if applicable (please contact facility or local host)
- An open mind
*For the Basic class, CSA has loaner guns available for those who wish to enroll but do not yet own a firearm. Oftentimes, it’s better to take the Basic class first before buying a gun, so you can make more informed decisions about the kind of handgun you want. We also provide eye and ear protection for those who don’t have their own. You may also purchase ammunition from CSA. If you need to borrow a handgun or purchase ammunition, please contact us in advance to let us know. Please note that in this class we will not be using holsters. Instead, all shooting will be done from a range bench or table.
