As Tom Givens focuses more on instructional development\, the Rangemaster Combative Pistol course is now primarily taught by Aqil Qadir (Rangemaster staff instructor and owner of Citizens Safety Academy).[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”mulled-wine” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”9″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Course Details” tab_id=”section-course-details”][vc_column_text]Topics covered in this course will include: \n\nRapid presentation from concealed carry\nEffective gun handling techniques\, designed to work under stress\nRapid reloading techniques\nHigh speed accuracy at close ranges\nPrecision shooting at mid-ranges\nShooting effectively with one hand\, with either hand\nFixing malfunctions rapidly and reliably\nProper defensive mindset\, personal tactics\, and more.\n\nExpect to fire about 550 rounds of ammunition. This course is designed expressly for the armed citizen who carries a concealed handgun\, or the plain clothes or off duty police officer. \nYou will need a good handgun\, holster\, belt\, and magazine pouch\, at least three magazines\, a ball cap and concealment garment (vest\, jacket\, windbreaker\, etc)\, and eye and ear protection. A cooler with soft drinks\, water\, snacks and lunch will be needed\, for lunch on site. \nYou will need a quality handgun and gear. It is a good idea to bring a second gun just like your primary\, in case something breaks on your primary gun. (Recommended\, not mandatory) Please bring good quality ammunition. You will shoot better\, your gun will function better\, and you will learn faster. Leather or kydex holsters are fine—PLEASE NO flimsy nylon or cloth holsters. AIWB carry is allowed. Second\, they often focus on teaching intermediate-level shooters without enough attention paid to the nuances of managing a class full of brand-new\, first-time shooters. Third\, many instructor courses tend to ignore the cultural and demographic dynamics of today’s market of firearms trainees.  \nWith the recent explosion of gun purchases by urbanites\, millennials\, trauma victims\, and others who don’t fit the traditional stereotypes of gun ownership\, firearms trainers must adapt to the rapidly-evolving 21st Century market. CSA developed what we call the “gateway” instructional model in an effort to fill those gaps in the training community.  \nInstructor candidates will learn and demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course (including leading a line of live-fire shooters through a course of fire). Candidates will also have to pass an instructor certification examination and a shooting qualification course of fire. First\, they often spend too much time on shooting and not enough time on teaching how to teach. Second\, they often focus on teaching intermediate-level shooters without enough attention paid to the nuances of managing a class full of brand-new\, first-time shooters. Third\, many instructor courses tend to ignore the cultural and demographic dynamics of today’s market of firearms trainees.  \nWith the recent explosion of gun purchases by urbanites\, millennials\, trauma victims\, and others who don’t fit the traditional stereotypes of gun ownership\, firearms trainers must adapt to the rapidly-evolving 21st Century market. CSA developed what we call the “gateway” instructional model in an effort to fill those gaps in the training community.  \nInstructor candidates will learn and demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course (including leading a line of live-fire shooters through a course of fire). Candidates will also have to pass an instructor certification examination and a shooting qualification course of fire. These classes often take for granted that every student has the same opinion about guns\, everyone has the same understanding of gun safety\, and everyone generally understands how guns work and what they’re used for. But that’s often not the case. \nAt CSA\, we take a different approach. Gateway instruction levels the playing field by allowing all students to enter the firearms training world without any pressure to know more than they know\, or to be someone they aren’t. One of the many benefits of this teaching technique (and the reason we call it “gateway instruction”) is that it greatly increases the chances of students investing in more training and becoming members of the training community\, rather than just visitors or sightseers. Expect to use no more than 300 rounds of ammunition over the course of the weekend. Defensive calibers (at least 9mm) are required for all qualification drills. Candidates will need: \n\nAn open mind and willingness to learn\nReliable handgun in a service caliber\, .38 sp/9mm or larger. With the recent explosion of gun purchases by urbanites\, millennials\, trauma victims\, and others who don’t fit the traditional stereotypes of gun ownership\, firearms trainers must adapt to the rapidly-evolving 21st Century market. With the recent explosion of gun purchases by urbanites\, millennials\, trauma victims\, others who don’t fit the traditional stereotypes of gun ownership\, firearms trainers must adapt to the rapidly-evolving 21st Century market. These classes often take for granted that every student has the same opinion about guns\, everyone has the same understanding of gun safety\, and everyone generally understands how guns work and what their used for. But that’s often not the case. \nAt CSA\, we take a different approach. Gateway instruction levels the playing field by allowing all students to enter the firearms training world without any pressure to know more than they know\, or to be someone they aren’t. One of the many benefits of this teaching technique (and the reason we call it “gateway instruction”) is that it greatly increases the chances of students investing in more training and becoming members of the training community\, rather than just visitors or sightseers. Concealed defensive holsters are welcome (if you are legally permitted to carry concealed)\, but we will not be using holsters for the range portion of the class. Expect to use no more than 300 rounds of ammunition over the course of the weekend. Defensive calibers (at least 9mm) are required for all qualification drills. Candidates will need: \n\nAn open mind and willingness to learn\nReliable handgun in a service caliber\, .38 sp/9mm or larger. NRA CCW is a newly-developed curriculum that builds on the fundamentals taught in the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course and puts those skills into a defensive context for private citizens who carry concealed handguns. NRA CCW is a newly-developed curriculum that builds on the fundamentals taught in the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course and puts those skills into a defensive context for private citizens who carry concealed handguns. This version is a total of four hours long and includes only the modules on safety\, holster basics\, and live-fire. That amounts to roughly two hours of classroom instruction and two hours of work on the range. After a review of the safety rules\, we’ll focus solely on developing safe techniques for drawing from the holster. Students should already be familiar with basic marksmanship an safe gun-handling.  \nSmall classes ensure low student-to-instructor ratios for lots of individualized attention. The course concludes with a written test and a shooting qualification drill. Our patient instructors will be there to assist students every step of the way in a comfortable\, non-intimidating environment.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Equipment List” tab_id=”equipment”][vc_column_text]Students will need: \n\na quality defensive handgun\na properly-fitted holster and belt\nat least two extra magazines or speed-loaders (and a method of carrying them on your person)\nroughly 100 rounds of ammunition\na cover garment for concealment\nanything you need to keep yourself comfortable in the elements (we’ll spend several hours on an outdoor range)\n\nStudents may also purchase ammunition from us if necessary. Enrollment is closed to the general public. Those who were pre-selected by the NAAGA leadership to attend this course will be provided with an access code to reveal the registration form. All other details of the course will be sent directly to the registrants by email. We look forward to training with you![/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Equipment List” tab_id=”equipment”][vc_column_text]Instructor candidates will need a quality defensive handgun (not a competition gun or a hunting gun). Concealed defensive holsters are welcome (if you are legally permitted to carry concealed)\, but we will not be using holsters for the range portion of the class. Expect to use no more than 300 rounds of ammunition over the course of the weekend. Defensive calibers (at least 9mm) are required for all qualification drills. Candidates will need: \n\nAn open mind and willingness to learn\nReliable handgun in a service caliber\, .38 sp/9mm or larger. (You can bring a .22 caliber pistol for the drills in the basic class to save money\, but the qualification courses must be shot using service caliber ammunition).\n200 rounds of ammo in a service caliber for the instructor course\nAnother 100 rounds for the basic class (for a total of 300\, see above)\nEye and hearing protection (preferably electronic hearing protection)\nNotebook and pens or an electronic device (laptop/pad) for note taking\nComfortable clothing appropriate for shooting (indoor ranges can be cold)\, brimmed hat/cap\, trimmed fingernails.
