Why does the trigger feel different on the second shot? What kind of ammo can I use in this gun? \nIf you’ve got a gun you don’t know much about\, this class is for you! Bring your gun enclosed in a case\, and we’ll guide you on a deep dive into the inner workings of your specific gun. Whether it’s a brand new purchase or a decades-old inheritance\, you’re responsible for making sure that gun is safe\, and you can’t do that without knowing how the gun works. Unfortunately\, most state-mandated permit classes do not include any instruction on how to present a handgun from a holster\, let alone any tips from a female perspective. Our Women’s Concealed Carry class helps ladies identify and employ safe\, reliable\, and comfortable handgun carry methods that fit their lifestyles. In the classroom segment\, we’ll explore different concealment options and discuss the practical strengths and weaknesses of each. And if you do have experience drawing from a holster\, this is still a perfect opportunity for you to get in lots of practice repetitions under the watchful eyes of several experienced instructors who can offer useful\, individualized tips for improving your efficiency and consistency. We will teach all the same techniques that most competent concealed carriers use\, but with a female lead instructor and special emphasis on factors women tend to prioritize (fellas\, if you’re interested in class involving holster work\, please consider our ATP-2 course). That’s why it’s so important to learn\, understand\, and practice effective techniques for using a holster properly. Holster work is often neglected in firearms training\, because everyone is anxious to get to the “fun part” – making loud noises and admiring our fancy marksmanship. But before you can find your front sight\, you’ve got to get your gun! This session will teach the four-step method of handgun presentation from concealment\, specifically for practical defensive contexts. We’ll do lots of reps\, both dry and live\, to habituate the steps required to access a holstered handgun reliably\, efficiently\, and safely. Launched by Tom and Lynn Givens over twenty years ago\, the conference has grown into a busy three-day weekend featuring five concurrent tracks of classes in every defensive discipline. There are classroom seminars (non-shooting)\, live-fire blocks (pistol\, shotgun\, and rifle)\, hand-to-hand classes\, medical classes\, scenario-based force-on-force classes\, and much more. Difficulty levels range from beginner classes on basic fundamentals to advanced classes for experienced practitioners. This year\, Tac-Con will be held at the NOLATAC Training Center just outside of New Orleans\, LA. \nAll of the CSA Instructors have trained with Rangemaster. CSA instructors Aqil Qadir and Tiffany Johnson were both mentored by Tom and Lynn Givens and have taken almost every course Rangemaster offers. These dry fire sessions will help prepare you to get the most our of our Defensive Pistol and other live fire courses. Dry fire is an invaluable exercise where students carefully practice the fundamentals of marksmanship and gun-handling with an unloaded firearm. Almost every element of shooting technique can be taught\, performed\, and refined with an empty firearm (“dry”). Most accomplished shooters spend far more time working dry than live fire. \nIn our Dry Fire Quick Clinic\, we spend an hour or two in a classroom setting giving students one-on-one attention to diagnose any errors in shooting or gun handling technique\, without using live ammunition. We use the students’ handguns and dummy ammunition to reinforce solid techniques without firing a single shot.
