One requirement for renewal of an armed guard license is 4 hours of training. This 4-hour course satisfies the training requirement imposed by Tenn. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This is an intensive two-day course that covers the intermediate-level skills needed to successfully fight with a pistol.[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”mulled-wine” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”9″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Course Details” tab_id=”section-course-details”][vc_column_text]\nThis is an intensive two-day course learning intermediate-level skills to successfully defend yourself with a pistol. This course is designed expressly for the armed citizen who carries a concealed handgun\, or the plain clothes or off-duty police officer. \nThis class is intended for true intermediate (or higher) level students. If you have not had formal training in how to work from a holster safely\, this coursework may not be for you yet. There will be a skills assessment early on to determine whether or not the student has the requisite skills to participate safely in this course. \nTopics covered in this course will include: \n\nEngaging targets at very close ranges\nDrawing and shooting one handed\nEngaging animated threats\nShooting with a cognitive load\nUnderstanding and using cover\nEngaging targets beyond “normal” pistol ranges\nEffective movement and shooting\nEffective use of cover\n\nYou will need a good handgun\, holster\, belt\, and magazine pouch\, at least three magazines\, a ball cap and concealment garment (vest\, jacket\, windbreaker\, etc)\, and eye and ear protection. Expect to fire about 600 rounds of ammunition. Also bring a cooler with soft drinks\, water\, snacks. The range has a great barbecue restaurant inside. Code Ann. § 62-35-118 (b) for applicants seeking to earn an armed security registration card.  \nAs required by law\, this is a 16-hour course that includes 4 hours of unarmed guard training and 8 hours of classroom instruction with a focus on authority\, duties and legal responsibilities of security guards/officers\, use of force laws in Tennessee\, gun safety\, and proper selection of weapons and gear. This course is designed expressly for the armed citizen who carries a concealed handgun\, or the plain clothes or off-duty police officer.  \nTopics covered in this course will include: \n\nEngaging targets at very close ranges\nDrawing and shooting one handed\nEngaging animated threats\nShooting with a cognitive load\nUnderstanding and using cover\nEngaging targets beyond “normal” pistol ranges\nEffective movement and shooting \n\nYou will need a good handgun\, holster\, belt\, and magazine pouch\, at least three magazines\, a ball cap and concealment garment (vest\, jacket\, windbreaker\, etc)\, and eye and ear protection. Expect to fire about 400 rounds of ammunition. Also bring a cooler with soft drinks\, water\, snacks. The range has a great barbecue restaurant inside.
