SUMMARY:NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting course teaches the basic knowledge\, skills\, and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target. This course is designed for sport shooting (trap and skeet)\, not defensive shooting. It is also a prerequisite for the NRA Shotgun Instructor course\, which we are offering the same weekend. Please note that this is a semi-private class. He is an NRA Training Counselor & Chief Range Safety Officer\, Regional Counselor for the NRA’s Refuse to be a Victim® Program & a State-Licensed Instructor for Georgia’s Armed & Unarmed Security Officers & Private Investigators. Disciplines he teaches include Tactical Shooting\, Pistol\, Rifle\, Shotgun\, Personal Protection Inside the Home\, Personal Protection Outside the Home\, Defensive Pistol\, Metallic & Shotgun Shell Reloading\, and Muzzleloading. He is certified as an NRA Law Enforcement Instructor for Pistol & Shotgun. Mike holds NRA Distinguished Expert ratings in both pistol & rifle. \nHis background includes 14 years in law enforcement & the military to include the Alabama State Patrol\, Mississippi State Harbor Police\, & as a US Army Military Policeman. While in the US Army\, he also served with the 63rd Chemical Company as an Assistant Squad Leader. They help level the playing field by offering defensive options to those who might otherwise be vulnerable. This is especially true for women\, since they are disproportionately targeted by criminals who often outweigh them or outnumber them. But your handgun is useless if you can’t access it fast enough when you really need it. That’s why it’s so important to learn\, understand\, and practice effective techniques for using a holster properly. Holster work is often neglected in firearms training\, because everyone is anxious to get to the “fun part” – making loud noises and admiring our fancy marksmanship. But before you can find your front sight\, you’ve got to get your gun! This session will teach the four-step method of handgun presentation from concealment\, specifically for practical defensive contexts. We’ll do lots of reps\, both dry and live\, to habituate the steps required to access a holstered handgun reliably\, efficiently\, and safely. Launched by Tom and Lynn Givens over twenty years ago\, the conference has grown into a busy three-day weekend featuring five concurrent tracks of classes in every defensive discipline. There are classroom seminars (non-shooting)\, live-fire blocks (pistol\, shotgun\, and rifle)\, hand-to-hand classes\, medical classes\, scenario-based force-on-force classes\, and much more. Difficulty levels range from beginner classes on basic fundamentals to advanced classes for experienced practitioners. This year\, Tac-Con will be held at the NOLATAC Training Center just outside of New Orleans\, LA. \nAll of the CSA Instructors have trained with Rangemaster. These clinics focus on firearm safety and the fundamentals of marksmanship\, giving you the tools and confidence to discuss\, handle\, or operate a firearm responsibly. \nNo experience is necessary for this class. We welcome teenagers\, great-grandmothers\, and everyone in between… as long as you’re a law-abiding female who is physically and mentally capable of following easy instructions and handling firearms safely. \nSorry guys\, but the Women On Target® clinics are available only to female participants. Women will enjoy this relaxed and friendly environment\, whether it’s your first time handling a gun or you’re hoping to dust off existing skills with a little refresher. We typically fire around 50 to 75 rounds on the range\, but every class is tailored to accommodate the individual participants\, and no two classes are alike. SUMMARY:NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (Lakeland\, TN)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is intended for all individuals\, regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This is the traditional\, instructor-led course where students will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end.[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”mulled-wine” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”9″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Course Details” tab_id=”section-course-details”][vc_column_text]This 8-hour class will be taught in two parts\, from 6pm to 10pm on Friday evening (Jan. 18th) and 8am to 12 noon on Saturday (Jan. 19th). Lively\, interactive classroom instruction will take place in a comfortable\, modern\, temperature-controlled meeting space; and the live-fire portion will be conducted on a convenient outdoor range not far away. All students will need a reliable pistol and approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. If you don’t have a pistol\, you can borrow one of ours (please contact us in advance to make arrangements). Ammo can also be purchased from CSA with advance notice. Some of the topics in the course include: \n\ngun safety rules\nproper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols\nammunition knowledge and selection\nselecting and storing a pistol\nfundamentals of shooting (marksmanship)\npistol inspection and maintenance\n\nSmall classes ensure low student-to-instructor ratios for lots of individualized attention. The course concludes with a written test and a shooting qualification drill.
