SUMMARY:NRA Shotgun Instructor Certification Course
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This course teaches the knowledge\, skills\, and attitude essential to organizing\, promoting\, and teaching the NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting course. Instructor candidates learn to organize and teach the Basic Shotgun curriculum and demonstrate mastery through practical exercises\, student-teaching\, and a written exam. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide\, NRA Shotgun Instructor Candidate packet\, and NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting course student packet.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Restrictions” tab_id=”restrictions”][vc_column_text]To take the instructor course\, candidates must already be knowledgeable in firearm safety and skilled in shotgun shooting. Before taking the course\, candidates must complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises. Also\, the NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting course is a prerequisite. For instructor candidates who need the prereq\, we are offering Basic Shotgun the day before the Instructor course (click here for more info). Here’s a bit more about Mike Bain\, from the Defensive Specialties website. \nJohn “Mike” Bain is the owner of Defensive Specialties\, LLC. He is an NRA Training Counselor & Chief Range Safety Officer\, Regional Counselor for the NRA’s Refuse to be a Victim® Program & a State-Licensed Instructor for Georgia’s Armed & Unarmed Security Officers & Private Investigators. Disciplines he teaches include Tactical Shooting\, Pistol\, Rifle\, Shotgun\, Personal Protection Inside the Home\, Personal Protection Outside the Home\, Defensive Pistol\, Metallic & Shotgun Shell Reloading\, and Muzzleloading. He is certified as an NRA Law Enforcement Instructor for Pistol & Shotgun. Mike holds NRA Distinguished Expert ratings in both pistol & rifle. \nHis background includes 14 years in law enforcement & the military to include the Alabama State Patrol\, Mississippi State Harbor Police\, & as a US Army Military Policeman. While in the US Army\, he also served with the 63rd Chemical Company as an Assistant Squad Leader. While with the 63rd\, he was trained in Nuclear\, Biological\, & Chemical Operations\, was the unit armorer\, & served in Operation Desert Storm. Other military duties included Senior Patrol Officer\, SWAT Team Member\, Training NCO\, Unit Armorer\, Unit Medic\, & Marksmanship Instructor. \nHe has been reloading his own ammunition since the 1980’s & casts his own bullets as well. He has been a concealed carry permit holder since 1976. Mike is involved in shooting activities at Cherokee Gun Club in Gainesville\, GA. SUMMARY:NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting course teaches the basic knowledge\, skills\, and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target. This course is designed for sport shooting (trap and skeet)\, not defensive shooting. It is also a prerequisite for the NRA Shotgun Instructor course\, which we are offering the same weekend. Please note that this is a semi-private class. The course concludes with a written test and a shooting qualification drill. SUMMARY:NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Certification Course (Lakeland\, TN)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This course teaches the knowledge\, skills\, and attitude essential to organizing\, promoting\, and teaching the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course. Instructor candidates learn to organize and teach the Basic Pistol curriculum and demonstrate mastery through practical exercises\, student-teaching\, and a written exam.[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”mulled-wine” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”9″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Course Details” tab_id=”section-course-details”][vc_column_text]This is a two-day\, 16-hour course to certify students as NRA basic pistol instructors. Successful candidates are also eligible to apply to become Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit Instructors or Mississippi Enhanced Permit Instructors. Lively\, interactive classroom instruction will take place in a comfortable\, modern\, temperature-controlled meeting space; and the live-fire portion will be conducted on a convenient outdoor range not far away. All students will need a reliable pistol and approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Ammo can also be purchased from CSA with advance notice. \nPlease note that this is not a shooting class. Instructor candidates are expected to have already mastered the fundamentals of marksmanship. Instead\, this course is designed to teach experienced shooters how to teach others to shoot accurately and safely. \n\nDay 1: Saturday\, January 19\, 2019\, from 1pm to 7pm (with short breaks on the hour)\nDay 2: Sunday\, January 20\, 2019\, from 8am to 7pm (with a one-hour lunch break and short breaks on the hour)\n\nDay one is NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT)\, utilizing the NRA Trainer’s Guide. During this part\, candidates will learn NRA policies and procedures\, basic public speaking skills\, training methodology\, use of a training team and training aids\, organizing a course\, building a budget\, and preparing to teach. Day one also typically includes the pre-course shooting qualification. \nDay two is Pistol Instructor training. During this portion\, candidates will be provided with the Basic Pistol lesson plans and student packets. Role playing is a major part of an instructor course. Lively\, interactive classroom instruction will take place in a comfortable\, modern\, temperature-controlled meeting space; and the live-fire portion will be conducted on a convenient outdoor range not far away. All students will need a reliable pistol and approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. If you don’t have a pistol\, you can borrow one of ours (please contact us in advance to make arrangements). Instructor candidates learn to organize and teach the Basic Pistol curriculum and demonstrate mastery through practical exercises\, student-teaching\, a shooting qualification drill\, and a written exam. This course does not teach people how to shoot (instructor candidates should already be well-versed in the fundamentals of marksmanship). Live-fire lessons will be conducted on a convenient outdoor range at the same facility. \nDay one is NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT)\, utilizing the NRA Trainer’s Guide. Candidates will learn NRA policies and procedures\, basic public speaking skills\, training methodology\, use of a training team and training aids\, organizing a course\, building a budget\, and preparing to teach. Day two is Pistol Instructor training. During this portion\, candidates will be provided with the Basic Pistol lesson plans and student packets. Role playing is a major part of an instructor course. Candidates take turns working in teams to teach portions of the course to other candidates who role-play as students. Each candidate will need approximately 100 rounds of ammunition and a reliable handgun. \nBefore attending the instructor course\, candidates will be required to provide proof that they have completed the NRA Basic Pistol course.
