This is the eight-hour safety course required by the State of Tennessee to obtain a Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit (EHCP). Tennessee does not require a permit to merely own a firearm (for example\, if you keep one in your home). However\, if you want to carry a firearm on your person out in public\, you’ll need a permit. There are lots of people advertising permit classes nowadays. SUMMARY:NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Certification Course

During this part\, candidates will learn NRA policies and procedures\, basic public speaking skills\, training methodology\, use of a training team and training aids\, organizing a course\, building a budget\, and preparing to teach. Day one also includes the pre-course shooting qualification. \nDay two is Pistol Instructor training. During this portion\, candidates will be provided with the Basic Pistol lesson plans and student packets. Role playing is a major part of an instructor course. There are lots of people advertising permit classes nowadays. Private security work in Tennessee is governed by the Private Protective Services Licensing and Regulatory Act (Title 62\, chapter 35 of the Tennessee Code). It’s regulated by the Department of Commerce and Insurance\, which administers the application process. One requirement for new applicants is 16 hours of specialized training. This course satisfies the training requirement imposed by Tenn. Code Ann. § 62-35-118 (b) for applicants seeking to earn an armed security registration card.  \nAs required by law\, this is a 16-hour course that includes 4 hours of unarmed guard training and 8 hours of classroom instruction with a focus on authority\, duties and legal responsibilities of security guards/officers\, use of force laws in Tennessee\, gun safety\, and proper selection of weapons and gear. The final 4 hours are spent in live fire training on the range. \nRange training includes hands-on time with weapons to improve mindset\, marksmanship\, and manipulation skills\, as well as defensive shooting tactics\, techniques\, and procedures.  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Eligibility” tab_id=”eligibility”][vc_column_text]\nBelow are the eligibility requirements for an armed guard license (see Tenn. It wasn’t created to teach you how to carry a handgun in public or use one to defend yourself from violent attack. Defending yourself with a handgun demands a level of skill. Private security work in Tennessee is governed by the Private Protective Services Licensing and Regulatory Act (Title 62\, chapter 35 of the Tennessee Code). It’s regulated by the Department of Commerce and Insurance\, which administers the application process. One requirement for new applicants is 16 hours of specialized training. It’s designed to reach students who are brand new to firearms and those who are ready to learn more about defensive shooting. Tennessee does not require a permit to merely own a firearm (for example\, if you keep one in your home). However\, if you want to carry a firearm on your person out in public\, you’ll need a permit. There are lots of people advertising permit classes nowadays. There are lots of people advertising permit classes nowadays. Private security work in Tennessee is governed by the Private Protective Services Licensing and Regulatory Act (Title 62\, chapter 35 of the Tennessee Code). It’s regulated by the Department of Commerce and Insurance\, which administers the application process. One requirement for new applicants is 16 hours of specialized training. If that’s the training you’re looking for\, you’re in the right place![/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”mulled-wine” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”9″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Course Info” tab_id=”course-info”][vc_column_text]\nIn Tennessee\, all armed security guards must meet the armed guard registration requirements to be authorized to carry a firearm on the job. This course satisfies the training requirement imposed by Tenn. Code Ann. § 62-35-118 (b) for applicants seeking to earn an armed security registration card.  \nAs required by law\, this is a 16-hour course that includes 4 hours of unarmed guard training and 8 hours of classroom instruction with a focus on authority\, duties and legal responsibilities of security guards/officers\, use of force laws in Tennessee\, gun safety\, and proper selection of weapons and gear. The final 4 hours are spent in live fire training on the range. \nRange training includes hands-on time with weapons to improve mindset\, marksmanship\, and manipulation skills\, as well as defensive shooting tactics\, techniques\, and procedures.  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Eligibility” tab_id=”eligibility”][vc_column_text]\nBelow are the eligibility requirements for an armed guard license (see Tenn. Code Ann § 62-35-117). Note that a security guard who holds an armed guard license may work either an armed post or an unarmed post (no need to separately obtain an unarmed guard license). \n\nMust be at least 21 years of age\nMust be a U.S. citizen or a resident alien (green card holder)\nMust have never been declared by any court to be incompetent by reason of mental defect or disease (unless you’ve since been declared competent)\nIf previously convicted of any felony or serious misdemeanor (involving violence\, firearms\, or theft)\, the applicant must have completed serving any sentence or probation at least five years prior to applying for the security guard license \nMust not be addicted to drugs or alcohol;\nMust not have any disability that prevents you for safely performing security duties; and\nMust be of good moral character.\n\nSuccessful applicants must meet the training requirements and submit electronic fingerprints for processing TBI and or FBI criminal history check. Private security work in Tennessee is governed by the Private Protective Services Licensing and Regulatory Act (Title 62\, chapter 35 of the Tennessee Code). It’s regulated by the Department of Commerce and Insurance\, which administers the application process. One requirement for new applicants is 4 hours of specialized training. This is the eight-hour safety course required by the State of Tennessee to obtain a Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit (EHCP). Tennessee does not require a permit to merely own a firearm (for example\, if you keep one in your home). However\, if you want to carry a firearm on your person out in public\, you’ll need a permit. There are lots of people advertising permit classes nowadays. Instructor candidates will learn to develop\, organize\, and teach a basic defense-oriented pistol curriculum in the paradigm of “gateway instruction” developed by Citizens Safety Academy.[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”mulled-wine” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”9″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Course Details” tab_id=”section-course-details”][vc_column_text]\nThis course teaches experienced shooters how to design\, organize\, and conduct a gateway (entry-level) pistol shooting course.  \nThere are many instructor certification courses available\, but most suffer from at least one of three common shortcomings. First\, they often spend too much time on shooting and not enough time on teaching how to teach. Second\, they often focus on teaching intermediate-level shooters without enough attention paid to the nuances of managing a class full of brand-new\, first-time shooters.  \nThird\, many instructor courses tend to ignore the cultural and demographic dynamics of today’s market of firearms trainees. With the recent explosion of gun purchases by urbanites\, millennials\, trauma victims\, others who don’t fit the traditional stereotypes of gun ownership\, firearms trainers must adapt to the rapidly-evolving 21st Century market. CSA developed what we call the “gateway” instructional model in an effort to fill those gaps in the training community.  \nInstructor candidates will learn and demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course\, they’ll complete an instructor certification examination\, and they’ll have to pass a shooting qualification course of fire. The course also includes an Instructor’s Guide that participants can take home with them for future reference.  \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What is “gateway instruction“?” tab_id=”topics”][vc_column_text]When we say “gateway instruction\,” we mean true entry-level content\, designed for students who’ve overcome boundaries\, obstacles\, social disincentives\, or other adverse odds to learn to shoot for the first time. We have found that many “beginner” classes on the market are often weighed down by assumptions and misperceptions about what new shooters typically bring with them. These classes often take for granted that every student has the same opinion about guns\, everyone has the same understanding of gun safety\, and everyone generally understands how guns work and what their used for. But that’s often not the case. \nAt CSA\, we take a different approach. Gateway instruction levels the playing field by allowing all students to enter the firearms training world without any pressure to know more than they know\, or to be someone they aren’t. One of the many benefits of this teaching technique (and the reason we call it “gateway instruction”) is that it greatly increases the chances of students investing in more training and becoming members of the training community\, rather than just visitors or sightseers. If at an outdoor range\, weather appropriate attire\, bug spray\, snacks and water\nNotebook and pens or an electronic device (laptop/tablet) for note taking\n\nNote that you will NOT need a holster for the range exercises. We’ll send an email to all students within a week of class with more details on what to bring and what to expect. \nNote on Ammo:\nWe are mindful of the current ammunition shortage. We will do our very best to be conservative with ammo consumption throughout this course.
