This course will focus on how to be prepared and gain the skills needed to prevent\, recognize and rapidly respond during an active shooter incident. This course will provide details on what behaviors to look for and the proper steps to prevent an active shooter incident. You will also learn how to make educated life-saving decisions regarding which actions to take during an active shooter incident. \nCOURSE OBJECTIVES  \n\nThe proper modes of response during an active shooter incident\nGain better understanding of Active Shooter incidents \nKnow the definition of an Active Shooter \nGain understanding how these events affect businesses\, schools and places of worship\nGet better at recognizing potential workplace violence indicators \nLearn how to respond when law enforcement arrives \nDescribe actions to take to prevent and prepare for potential active shooter incidents \n\nClass prerequisites: Completion of a state handgun carry permit class or other comparative pistol shooting class. You should also have some experience safely handling a pistol. We recommend full or medium sized guns for this class. Sub-compact guns are much harder to shoot. \n200 rounds of quality training ammunition. \nAT LEAST 2 magazines or speed loaders\, 3 magazines is better.\nEye protection and hearing protection (we recommend electronic) and we recommend a ball cap or brimmed hat to keep brass from going behind your eye protection.\nComfortable shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather or range work.\nA cooler with soft drinks\, water\, snacks and lunch will be needed\, for lunch on site. One requirement for renewal of an armed guard license is 4 hours of training. This 4-hour course satisfies the training requirement imposed by Tenn. Code Ann. § 62-35-110.  \nTN armed guard certification can be renewed up to 3 months after they’ve expired. \nYou will receive electronic proof of training from us. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Eligibility” tab_id=”eligibility”][vc_column_text]\nBelow are the eligibility requirements for an armed guard license (see Tenn. Code Ann § 62-35-117). Note that a security guard who holds an armed guard license may work either an armed post or an unarmed post (no need to separately obtain an unarmed guard license). \n\nMust be at least 21 years of age\nMust be a U.S. citizen or a resident alien (green card holder)\nMust have never been declared by any court to be incompetent by reason of mental defect or disease (unless you’ve since been declared competent)\nIf previously convicted of any felony or serious misdemeanor (involving violence\, firearms\, or theft)\, the applicant must have completed serving any sentence or probation at least five years prior to applying for the security guard license \nMust not be addicted to drugs or alcohol;\nMust not have any disability that prevents you for safely performing security duties; and\nMust be of good moral character\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Equipment List” tab_id=”equipment-list”][vc_column_text]This class offers a total of 4-hours of instruction\, including some dry fire and live fire training on the range. This course will provide details on what behaviors to look for and the proper steps to prevent an active shooter incident. You will also learn how to make educated life-saving decisions regarding which actions to take during an active shooter incident. \nCOURSE OBJECTIVES  \n\nThe proper modes of response during an active shooter incident\nGain better understanding of Active Shooter incidents \nKnow the definition of an Active Shooter \nGain understanding how these events affect businesses\, schools and places of worship\nGet better at recognizing potential workplace violence indicators \nLearn how to respond when law enforcement arrives \nDescribe actions to take to prevent and prepare for potential active shooter incidents \n\nClass prerequisites: Completion of a state handgun carry permit class or other comparative pistol shooting class. You should also have some experience safely handling a pistol. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Are you an armed security guard and new to renew your license? We can help. Tennessee armed guard licenses must be renewed every 2 years. One requirement for renewal of an armed guard license is 4 hours of training. This 4-hour course satisfies the training requirement imposed by Tenn. Code Ann. § 62-35-110.  \nTN armed guard certification can be renewed up to 3 months after they’ve expired. \nYou will receive electronic proof of training from us. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Eligibility” tab_id=”eligibility”][vc_column_text]\nBelow are the eligibility requirements for an armed guard license (see Tenn. Code Ann § 62-35-117). Note that a security guard who holds an armed guard license may work either an armed post or an unarmed post (no need to separately obtain an unarmed guard license). \n\nMust be at least 21 years of age\nMust be a U.S. citizen or a resident alien (green card holder)\nMust have never been declared by any court to be incompetent by reason of mental defect or disease (unless you’ve since been declared competent)\nIf previously convicted of any felony or serious misdemeanor (involving violence\, firearms\, or theft)\, the applicant must have completed serving any sentence or probation at least five years prior to applying for the security guard license \nMust not be addicted to drugs or alcohol;\nMust not have any disability that prevents you for safely performing security duties; and\nMust be of good moral character\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Equipment List” tab_id=”equipment-list”][vc_column_text]This class offers a total of 4-hours of instruction\, including some dry fire and live fire training on the range. This course will focus on how to be prepared and gain the skills needed to prevent\, recognize and rapidly respond during an active shooter incident. This course will provide details on what behaviors to look for and the proper steps to prevent an active shooter incident. You will also learn how to make educated life-saving decisions regarding which actions to take during an active shooter incident. \nCOURSE OBJECTIVES  \n\nThe proper modes of response during an active shooter incident\nGain better understanding of Active Shooter incidents \nKnow the definition of an Active Shooter \nGain understanding how these events affect businesses\, schools and places of worship\nGet better at recognizing potential workplace violence indicators \nLearn how to respond when law enforcement arrives \nDescribe actions to take to prevent and prepare for potential active shooter incidents \n\nClass prerequisites: Completion of a state handgun carry permit class or other comparative pistol shooting class. You should also have some experience safely handling a pistol. One requirement for renewal of an armed guard license is 4 hours of training. Private security work in Tennessee is governed by the Private Protective Services Licensing and Regulatory Act (Title 62\, chapter 35 of the Tennessee Code). It’s regulated by the Department of Commerce and Insurance\, which administers the application process. One requirement for new applicants is 16 hours of specialized training. This course satisfies the training requirement imposed by Tenn. Code Ann. § 62-35-118 (b) for applicants seeking to earn an armed security registration card.  \nAs required by law\, this is a 16-hour course that includes 4 hours of unarmed guard training and 8 hours of classroom instruction with a focus on authority\, duties and legal responsibilities of security guards/officers\, use of force laws in Tennessee\, gun safety\, and proper selection of weapons and gear.
