Handgun permit training is a great start\, but it’s very basic\, focusing mostly on relevant statutes and safe handgun operation. It wasn’t created to teach you how to carry a handgun in public or use one to defend yourself from violent attack. Defending yourself with a handgun demands a level of skill. Our 4 hour Image Based Decisional Drill CLASSES are intended to fill in the gap in learning how to make decisions using images to provoke a response\, decide which TOOL to use\, and then ACT on that decision. From the time that a bad guy chooses you\, you will have a very limited amount of time to make a decision. THEY choose how and when. Your actions need to be confident\, quick and decisive. \nIn all scenarios the image is happening to YOU\, in front of YOU\, beside YOU or behind YOU. YOU are your first responder and decisions need to be made quickly. Our Image Based Decisional Drill instructors are more like “guides” to help you before\, during but MOSTLY AFTER you have worked through your scenario. \nBENEFITS: \n\nClassroom\, = dry practice\nPressure testing under realistic time constraints with feedback for improvement.\nVisual cueing\nPre-need decision making\nTool cycling\nDistance management\nStrategy changes\n\nAll levels of experience are welcome. Its purpose is to teach Tennessee handgun laws and ways to safely load\, unload\, and store a handgun. It wasn’t created to teach you how to carry a handgun in public or use one to defend yourself from violent attack. Defending yourself with a handgun demands a level of skill. Equally important but less often recognized is the role of the assistant instructor. Being an effective assistant trainer requires more than just standing behind a row of shooters or loitering in the back of the classroom. How do you handle a nervous student? Or a student who doesn’t follow directions? Or one who is unsafe\, chatty\, inattentive\, physically compromised\, or just plain terrified? What is the assistant instructor’s role\, and how is it different from the lead instructor\, or the range safety officer\, or the one-on-one coach? In this class\, we’ll explore some useful tips\, skills\, and best practices that elevate the A.I. from just another person on the range to an indispensable part of the training team. \nNo ammunition is required for this class. All drills and exercises will be conducted in the classroom\, with dummy ammunition or blue guns used to simulate range instruction. That’s why it’s so important to learn\, understand\, and practice effective techniques for using a holster properly. Holster work is often neglected in firearms training\, because everyone is anxious to get to the “fun part” – making loud noises and admiring our fancy marksmanship. But before you can find your front sight\, you’ve got to get your gun! This session will teach the four-step method of handgun presentation from concealment\, specifically for practical defensive contexts. We’ll do lots of reps\, both dry and live\, to habituate the steps required to access a holstered handgun reliably\, efficiently\, and safely. Dry fire is an invaluable exercise where students carefully practice the fundamentals of marksmanship and gun-handling with an unloaded firearm. Almost every element of shooting technique can be taught\, performed\, and refined with an empty firearm (“dry”). Most accomplished shooters spend far more time working dry than live fire. \nIn our Dry Fire Quick Clinic\, we spend an hour or two in a classroom setting giving students one-on-one attention to diagnose any errors in shooting or gun handling technique\, without using live ammunition. We use the students’ handguns and dummy ammunition to reinforce solid techniques without firing a single shot. Its purpose is to teach Tennessee handgun laws and ways to safely load\, unload\, and store a handgun. It wasn’t created to teach you how to carry a handgun in public or use one to defend yourself from violent attack. Defending yourself with a handgun demands a level of skill.
