SUMMARY:NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Certification Course (Memphis)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This course teaches the knowledge\, skills\, and attitude essential to organizing\, promoting\, and teaching the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course. Instructor candidates learn to organize and teach the Basic Pistol curriculum and demonstrate mastery through practical exercises\, student-teaching\, and a written exam.[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”mulled-wine” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”9″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Course Details” tab_id=”section-course-details”][vc_column_text]This is a two-day course to certify students as NRA basic pistol instructors. \nDay one is NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT)\, utilizing the NRA Trainer’s Guide. During this part\, candidates will learn NRA policies and procedures\, basic public speaking skills\, training methodology\, use of a training team and training aids\, organizing a course\, building a budget\, and preparing to teach. Day one also includes the pre-course shooting qualification. \nDay two is Pistol Instructor training. During this portion\, candidates will be provided with the Basic Pistol lesson plans and student packets. Role playing is a major part of an instructor course. Candidates take turns working in teams to teach portions of the course to other candidates who role-play as students.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Prerequisites” tab_id=”prerequisites”][vc_column_text]Before attending this instructor certification course\, candidates will be required to provide proof that they have completed the NRA Basic Pistol course as a student. This is a firm NRA policy\, and there are no exceptions\, regardless of your occupation\, regardless of other certifications\, and regardless of how much prior training and experience you’ve had. \nIf you haven’t completed Basic Pistol\, we will be offering it at Top Gun on Thursday and Friday night before his instructor course. Please see our calendar for details or send us an email.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Equipment List” tab_id=”equipment-list”][vc_column_text]You’ll need a quality handgun and approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. The round-count is an estimation\, as we’ll need roughly 20 rounds for the range teach-backs (where instructor candidates role-play as students) and another 20 rounds for each attempt at the instructor qualification course of fire. Candidates who need to shoot the course multiple times will need more ammo\, so we advise everyone to bring about 100 rounds just to be safe. You’ll also need eye and ear protection. \nYou will NOT need a holster for this class. All shooting is done from a table\, not from the holster.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Register Now” tab_id=”section-register-now”][vc_column_text]We look forward to seeing you in class! SUMMARY:NRA Basic CCW Course (Memphis)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The goal of the NRA CCW Course is to teach the basic knowledge\, skills\, and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal protection. NRA CCW is a newly-developed curriculum that builds on the fundamentals taught in the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course and puts those skills into a defensive context for private citizens who carry concealed handguns. This course is eight hours in length\, with a significant portion of the class spent on the range.[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”mulled-wine” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”9″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Course Details” tab_id=”section-course-details”][vc_column_text]Some of the topics in the course include: \n\nquick review from NRA Basic Pistol or TN Handgun Carry Permit class\nsafety\, safety\, safety\ndrawing from a holster (open and concealed)\ndefensive mindset\ndefensive accuracy and flash sight picture\nemergency reloading\nmalfunction clearances\none-handed shooting\nshooting from moderate distances (10-15 yards)\nand much more!\n\nSmall classes ensure low student-to-instructor ratios for lots of individualized attention. The course concludes with a written test and a shooting qualification drill. Our patient instructors will be there to assist students every step of the way in a comfortable\, non-intimidating environment.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Equipment List” tab_id=”equipment”][vc_column_text]Students will need: \n\na quality defensive handgun\na properly-fitted holster and belt\nat least two extra magazines or speed-loaders (and a method of carrying them on your person)\nroughly 150 rounds of ammunition\na cover garment for concealment\nanything you need to keep yourself comfortable in the elements (we’ll spend several hours on an outdoor range)\n\nIf you don’t yet have a handgun or holster\, we can lend you one of ours for this course (however\, if you plan to continue on to the CCW Instructor course\, you should have your own gear). Students may also purchase ammunition from us if necessary. Feel free to contact us for questions about equipment requirements\, and please let us know in advance if you will need to borrow equipment or purchase ammo.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Course Length” tab_id=”course-length”][vc_column_text]The NRA CCW course is modular and can be adjusted to different lengths\, depending on which modules are included. For this CCW course\, we are offering three modules for a total of four hours of instruction\, including classroom lessons and live-fire drills on the range.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Who should take this class?” tab_id=”who-should-take-this-class”][vc_column_text]The NRA CCW course builds upon the skills taught in NRA Basic Pistol. Whereas Basic Pistol focuses on safety and pure marksmanship fundamentals\, the CCW course puts those fundamental skills into a defensive context. This course is ideal for those who intend to carry a concealed handgun on their person\, outside of the home. \nThere will be some review of general marksmanship (sight alignment\, trigger control\, etc.)\, but the primary focus of NRA CCW is defensive mindset and concealed carry techniques (presentation from a holster). There is no prerequisite for this class\, but typically students should have some general familiarity with the five fundamentals of marksmanship. If you’re not sure if you’re ready to draw from the holster\, please consider taking our NRA Basic Pistol class instead.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can I use this class to get my carry permit?” tab_id=”ccw-class-for-carry-permit”][vc_column_text]Every state has its own rules for handgun carry permit issuance. The NRA CCW class is designed to meet most states’ training requirements\, and many states do accept it\, but please do not make any assumptions. To find out for sure\, contact the proper officials in your state to verify whether the CCW course will satisfy that state’s training requirement. \nTennessee has designed its own training course specifically for handgun carry permit applicants\, so the CCW course is currently not accepted as a substitute. However\, that might change in the coming months. Stay tuned! \nRegardless of whether this course satisfies your state’s required training for concealed carry\, it is an excellent primer for anyone who plans to go armed in public and wishes to do so safely and responsibly.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Register Now” tab_id=”section-register-now”][vc_column_text]We look forward to seeing you in class!
