SUMMARY:NRA Basic Pistol Instructor Certification Course (Memphis)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This course teaches experienced shooters how to organize\, promote\, and deliver the NRA’s flagship handgun course: Basics of Pistol Shooting. Many states also require this NRA instructor certification to authorize trainers to teach handgun carry permit classes. Instructor candidates learn to organize and teach the Basic Pistol curriculum and demonstrate mastery through practical exercises\, student-teaching\, and a written exam.[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”mulled-wine” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”9″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Course Details” tab_id=”section-course-details”][vc_column_text]\nThe course is 16 hours long (two days). Class runs from 8am to 6pm both days\, with a short lunch break around midday. \n Day 1 includes NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT)\, utilizing the NRA Trainer’s Guide. Instructor candidates will learn NRA policies and procedures\, basic public speaking skills\, training methodology\, use of a training team and training aids\, organizing a course\, building a budget\, and preparing to teach. Day 1 also ventures into the discipline-specific portion of the course\, where candidates are introduced to the Basic Pistol course outlines and lesson plans. \nDay 2 continues with more pistol instructor training. All candidates will teach several parts of the curriculum over the course of the day\, including live fire. Role playing is a major part of an instructor course. Candidates take turns working in teams to teach portions of the course to other candidates\, who role-play as students. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”When and Where” tab_id=”when-and-where”][vc_column_text]This is a 16-hour class\, conducted over two consecutive days. We’ll start class each day at 8am sharp\, so please arrive a bit early the first day to complete a little paperwork. Class will run until 6pm both days\, with a short lunch break. There is a restaurant onsite at the range. \nThe class will take place at Top Gun Academy\, 2770 Whitten Road\, in Memphis\, TN. This is a very nice\, modern\, indoor range with lots of convenient amenities. Our local host and point of contact is Will Dougan.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Early Bird Pricing” tab_id=”early-bird-pricing”][vc_column_text]\nDon’t delay!\nEarly Bird pricing ($300) is available until Friday\, August 7\, 2020 at 11:30pm (Central). After that\, general registration is $350. All prices include the $25 range fee.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Prerequisites” tab_id=”prerequisites”][vc_column_text]Before attending this instructor certification course\, candidates will be required to provide proof that they have completed the NRA Basic Pistol course as a student. This is a firm NRA policy\, and there are no exceptions\, regardless of your occupation\, regardless of other certifications\, and regardless of how much prior training and experience you’ve had. \nIf you haven’t completed Basic Pistol\, we will be offering it at Top Gun on Friday before his instructor course. Please see our calendar for details or send us an email.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Equipment List” tab_id=”equipment-list”][vc_column_text]You’ll need a quality handgun and approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. The round-count is an estimation\, as we’ll need roughly 20 rounds for the range teach-backs (where instructor candidates role-play as students) and another 20 rounds for each attempt at the instructor qualification course of fire. Candidates who need to shoot the course multiple times will need more ammo\, so we advise everyone to bring about 100 rounds just to be safe. You’ll also need eye and ear protection. \nYou will NOT need a holster for this class. All shooting is done from a table\, not from the holster.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Register Now” tab_id=”section-register-now”][vc_column_text]We look forward to seeing you in class!
