SUMMARY:NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (Private)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is intended for all individuals\, regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This is the traditional\, instructor-led course where students will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end.[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”mulled-wine” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”9″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Course Details” tab_id=”section-course-details”][vc_column_text]Some of the topics in the course include: \n\ngun safety rules\nproper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols\nammunition knowledge and selection\nselecting and storing a pistol\nfundamentals of shooting\npistol inspection and maintenance\n\nSmall classes ensure low student-to-instructor ratios for lots of individualized attention. The course concludes with a written test and a shooting qualification drill. Our patient instructors will be there to assist students every step of the way in a comfortable\, non-intimidating environment.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Equipment List” tab_id=”equipment-list”][vc_column_text]For this class\, you’ll need: \n\nA reliable handgun (semi-auto or revolver\, 9mm or larger preferred\, but any caliber accepted)\nRoughly 100 rounds of ammunition (we might not need that much\, depending on the pace of the class).\nEye and ear protection\nProper attire\, applicable medications\, bug spray\, snacks/water\, and other items to stay comfortable in the elements while on the outdoor range\nNote-taking materials for the classroom\nYour NRA number (if you’re a member – though membership is not required)\nAn open mind\nA positive attitude\n\nWe’ll send an email to all students within a week of class with more details on what to bring and what to expect. \nNote on Ammo:\nWe are mindful of the current ammunition shortage. We will do our very best to be conservative with ammo consumption throughout this course. The round count in the equipment list is a generous estimate\, and we hope to avoid having to use all of it. \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can I use this class to get my permit?” tab_id=”can-i-use-this-for-my-permit”][vc_column_text]Every state has its own rules for handgun carry permit issuance. The NRA CCW class is designed to meet most states’ training requirements\, and many states do accept it\, but please do not make any assumptions. To find out for sure\, contact the proper officials in your state to verify whether the CCW course will satisfy that state’s training requirement. \nTennessee has designed its own training course specifically for Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit applicants\, and this course is currently not accepted as a substitute. However\, Tennessee now has a new permit called the Concealed Handgun Carry permit\, and the NRA CCW class DOES satisfy the training requirement for Tennessee’s Concealed Handgun Carry permit. We’ve assembled a page on our website with more information on the difference between the two permits.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Register Now” tab_id=”section-register-now”][vc_column_text]We look forward to seeing you in class! DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This course teaches the knowledge\, skills\, and attitude essential to organizing\, promoting\, and teaching the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course. Instructor candidates learn to organize and teach the Basic Pistol curriculum and demonstrate mastery through practical exercises\, student-teaching\, and a written exam.[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” color=”mulled-wine” c_icon=”chevron” active_section=”9″ no_fill=”true” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Course Details” tab_id=”section-course-details”][vc_column_text]This is a two-day course to certify students as NRA certified pistol instructors. \nDay one is NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT)\, utilizing the NRA Trainer’s Guide. During this part\, candidates will learn NRA policies and procedures\, basic public speaking skills\, training methodology\, use of a training team and training aids\, organizing a course\, building a budget\, and preparing to teach. Day one also includes the pre-course shooting qualification. \nDay two is Pistol Instructor training. During this portion\, candidates will be provided with the Basic Pistol lesson plans and student packets. Role playing is a major part of an instructor course. Candidates take turns working in teams to teach portions of the course to other candidates who role-play as students.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Equipment List” tab_id=”equipment”][vc_column_text]For this class\, you’ll need: \n\nA reliable handgun (semi-auto or revolver\, 9mm or larger preferred\, but any caliber accepted)\nRoughly 100 rounds of ammunition (ammo usage will depend on how many times we need to shoot the 20-round qualification course\, so 100 rounds is a generous estimation).\nEye and ear protection\nProper attire\, applicable medications\, bug spray\, snack/water\, and other items to stay comfortable in the elements while on the outdoor range\nNote-taking materials for the classroom\nYour NRA number (if you’re a member – though membership is not required)\nAn open mind\nA positive attitude\n\nWe’ll send an email to all students within a week of class with more details on what to bring and what to expect. \nNote on Ammo:\nWe are mindful of the current ammunition shortage. If you’ve already taken this course with another NRA Instructor\, please email us a copy of your official NRA completion certificate as soon as possible. If you’d like to take Basic Pistol with us\, We’re offering it the day before the instructor course. \nPlease do not contact us and ask if the Basic Pistol prerequisite can be waived. The NRA has a strict policy that all instructor candidates must take Basic Pistol in order to qualify for instructor candidacy. There are no exceptions\, regardless of prior training\, profession\, or experience. Thanks in advance for understanding.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Register Now” tab_id=”section-register-now”][vc_column_text]We look forward to seeing you in class!
