NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (Memphis)
August 28, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 6:00 pm$125.00
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is intended for all individuals, regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This is the traditional, instructor-led course where students will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end.
Some of the topics in the course include:
- gun safety rules
- proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
- ammunition knowledge and selection
- selecting and storing a pistol
- fundamentals of shooting
- pistol inspection and maintenance
Small classes ensure low student-to-instructor ratios for lots of individualized attention. The course concludes with a written test and a shooting qualification drill. Our patient instructors will be there to assist students every step of the way in a comfortable, non-intimidating environment.
This is an eight-hour class. We’ll start class at 8am sharp, so please arrive a bit early to complete a little paperwork. Class will run until 6pm, with a short lunch break. There is a restaurant onsite at the range.
The class will take place at Top Gun Academy, 2770 Whitten Road, in Memphis, TN. This is a very nice, modern, indoor range with lots of convenient amenities. Our local host and point of contact is Will Dougan.
Early Bird pricing ($125) is available until Friday, August 7, 2020 at 11:30pm (Central). After that, General Admission is $150. All prices include the $25 range fee.
Students in this class will need:
- At most, 100 rounds of ammo (we likely won’t use that much, but just in case)
- A reliable handgun
- Eye and ear protection
- A positive attitude and open mind
- Note-taking materials
You will NOT need a holster for this class. All shooting will be done from a table or bench. Ammunition is available for purchase at the range. Handgun rentals are also available at the range.
