Pepper Spray & Personal Protection

June 6, 2025

6pm – 9pm

Most dangerous situations can be avoided or de-escalated with non-lethal means.  Pepper Spray is a versatile, easy to use, and affordable self-defense tool.  But without quality training it ends up being a talisman that you may not even remember to use.

Pepper Spray for Self-Defense covers WAY more than just pepper spray.  It is a well-rounded class that will get you comfortable with pepper spray, develop competence, and build the confidence that you can protect yourself from dangerous situations.

It covers 3 main topics:

  1. Mindset, this sets you up to AVOID potential danger, and act when necessary.
  2. Understanding what pepper spray is and how to use it as a defensive tool.
  3. Practice under stress using inert (water) trainers.

The number one goal is to avoid dangerous encounters and get home safe.  The mindset portion of class teaches you:

  • The mindset needed to win a conflict
  • How to develop awareness
  • How criminals are NOT like you
  • How to recognize indicators that an assault is coming

While avoidance is ideal, it isn’t always possible. Pepper spray is an affordable, effective, easy to use option for defending yourself.  You will learn:

  • What is OC “Pepper” Spray?
  • What it can & can’t do
  • How to decontaminate from unintentional exposure
  • Which OC to buy

Being able to perform under stress, comes from practice.  You will practice:

  • How to use it (with inert water trainers)
  • How to gauge distance
  • Setting boundaries verbally
  • Spraying while moving

Class includes: 2 water trainers to use in class, one live pepper spray to take home and the range fee.

This is course is for ages 14 and up (minors ages 14-17 must attend with a parent.)

*No live pepper spray will be used in this class.*
