Please note that this is an On Target Shooting Sports class. This class will not be taught at or by Citizens Safety Academy. CSA has a close working relationship with On Target. Several of our CSA instructors also work at On Target, including Ryan McCann, Tiffany Warner, and Chris Norville (who serves as the Director of Training at On Target). So, CSA occasionally posts On Target classes here. We highly recommend On Target’s courses, and we hope you enjoy training with Chris and his team!

The class will start with a discussion on why a shotgun is a very viable tool for home defense. We will cover several myths and misconceptions around the platform and examine how we can maximize the shotgun as a defensive tool.

The class will be broken into two parts. The first day will be lecture and cover all the equipment and the why behind the selections that are suggested.  The second half of the class will be a mix of classroom and live fire. We will cover ammunition selection and the reasons for patterning a shotgun. Students will be given the opportunity to test pattern their shotguns with the load of their choice.

• Load Patterning

There are no prerequisites to take this class. It is designed for people who have little or no experience with shotguns or people who just want a refresher.

For Shotgun Part 2, bring the shotgun and ammunition that you would like to pattern.  If you do not have a shotgun you can still watch the demonstration of patterning.
