NRA Chief Range Safety Officer Course
August 14 @ 8:00 am - 6:00 pm$225.00
This course teaches the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to training and supervising NRA-certified range safety officers and developing range standard operating procedures.
The CRSO certification course will cover the following topics:
- standard range operating procedures
- range safety inspections
- range emergency procedures
- firearm stoppages and malfunctions
- range safety briefings
- training staff in all of the above subjects
- teaching the NRA RSO course (to certify new RSOs)
- and more!
This is an instructor-level course. CRSO candidates demonstrate organizational and teaching skills by participation in practical exercises and mock teaching sessions. The course also includes a written exam. CRSO Candidates will receive NRA Basic RSO lesson plans, the RSO basic student packet, and the RSO basic course presentation CD.
You must be an NRA-Certified Range Safety Officer (RSO) to be eligible for the Chief Range Safety officer course. For those who need the RSO certification, we are offering that course the day before this one (see our course calendar for details).
The CRSO course is normally presented in two parts: Basic Instructor Training (BIT) and NRA Chief Range Safety Officer training. However, this offering will NOT include BIT, as most expected attendees are already NRA-certified pistol instructors. Therefore, your BIT credentials must be current in order to enroll in this course.
Finally, while this is not a shooting course, all attendees should be experienced shooters and should have a solid working knowledge of general firearm safety principles.
This is a non-shooting course, so all you will need is an open mind, a positive attitude, and note-taking materials. All attendees should also have a solid working knowledge of general firearm safety principles.
